🐎 LIFE IN THE WILD WEST! The American West was a place of huge open landscapes, new opportunities and incredible challenges. Thousands of pioneers travelled west in search of land and a new life. But what was everyday life really like? 🔎🌵 🔎 BECOME A WILD WEST HISTORIAN Research the lives of pioneers and settlers in the American West. Find out what it was really like to live on the frontier. 🏡 WHERE DID THEY LIVE? What were their homes like? What was it like living in a log cabin or sod house? How did they keep warm and protect themselves from the weather? 🌾 WHAT DID THEY DO? Discover how pioneers spent their days. How did they grow food, look after animals, build homes, collect water and earn a living? 🚂 HOW DID THEY GET THERE? Find out about the incredible journeys pioneers made across America. What did they take with them? What challenges did they face along the way? 🍞 WHAT DID THEY EAT? Imagine having no supermarket nearby! Find out how pioneers grew, hunted, cooked and preserved their food. ⚠️ WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES? Research the dangers and difficulties they faced, including extreme weather, isolation, illness, difficult journeys and hard physical work. 🌎 LOOK AT DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES Remember that the land was already home to many Indigenous peoples and communities. Research how westward expansion affected their lives and communities. 🎨 SHOW WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNED Create a poster, diary, video, scrapbook or "A Day in the Life" of a pioneer. Could you imagine what it would be like to live in the Wild West? ⭐ CHALLENGE: Would you have survived life as a pioneer?
